Port Tobacco Consulting, LLC (PTC) was founded in March 1998 with one of its initial goals providing reliable and highly qualified full life-cycle type assistance to small and medium sized contractors at an affordable price in their quest to level the playing field and, end up with a successful and profitable project and an above average or even outstanding overall performance evaluation.

PTC maintains close and personal contact with its clients and is fully devoted to customer satisfaction regardless of the cost. This devotion is reflected in the fact that, except for those companies that have merged or gone out of business, it still actively supports all of the clients that came onboard during its first year of existence.

PTC is a unique facilities management company and consulting firm serving the construction industry offering responsive, cost-effective, quality, construction management services for complex projects and resolution of construction disputes. By utilizing our unique skill set and proactive approach, it is our mission to help each client with their construction project management from conception to completion.

Conceptual Design

During the next ten years, a new generation of scientists and engineers must be employed by DoD to work together with the next generation of Military Officers facing responsibilities within a changing Science & Technology environment in this nation.  To meet the needs of some of our most preeminent scientists, locally and virtually throughout the rest of the world, the Energetics Technology Center (ETC) will be built in Southern Maryland, USA. 

Port Tobacco Consulting’s Construction Management Team is an integral part of an association of the Federal Government, Academia and Industry, to realize a facility that will provide the environment and tools to foster the future of Energetics, Policy and Workforce Development.  PTC is providing the Conceptual Design Specification, using modern software tools and management practices, which will be used by an A&E firm to create the building.

Exceptional Management

Our Facilities managers plan, direct, and coordinate a wide variety of construction projects, including the building of all types of residential, commercial, industrial and Federal structures. Our Construction managers may oversee an entire project or just part of a project and, although they usually play no direct role in the actual construction of a structure, they expertly schedule and coordinate all design and construction processes, including the selection, hiring, and oversight of high-quality, specialty trade contractors.

Our Construction managers evaluate and help determine appropriate construction delivery systems and the most cost-effective plan and schedule for completing the project. They divide all required construction site activities into logical steps, budgeting the time required to meet established deadlines. This may require sophisticated estimating and scheduling techniques and use of computers with specialized software.

On-The-Job Expertise

Our Facilities managers coordinate and supervise the construction process from the conceptual development stage through final construction, making sure that the project gets done on time and within budget. Given the designs for buildings, or other projects, our construction managers oversee the planning, scheduling, and implementation of the project to execute those designs.

Large construction projects, such as an office building or industrial complex, are often too complicated for one person to manage. Therefore, these projects are divided into many segments: Site preparation, including land clearing and earth moving; sewage systems; landscaping and road construction; building construction, including excavation and laying of foundations and erection of the structural framework, floors, walls, and roofs; and building systems, including fire-protection, electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning, and heating. Our Construction managers may be in charge of one or more of these activities.
